Artist of the Week : PSY

Gone the cavalcades with Gangnam Style. The Korean singer is back with his seventh studio album, Cider, released on December 1st. Internationally recognized since 2012 thanks to his clip with over 2 billion views on YouTube, totally crazy as are used his fans.
The least we can say, is that three years after Gangnam Style, Psy kept his sense of self-mockery. In the clip Daddy, the singer so banked on his ubiquity in the screen. Beware of overdose. Psy laughing baby, Psy schoolboy who makes the girls fall, Psy doting father, Psy grandpa in great shape... Doubtful special effects represent him at all ages. But also in all the postures : flamenco dancer, old tycoon on his yacht...
The ingredients are the same as for Gangnam Style. A doped K-Pop to EDM electro effects for night fever. A zany choreography that should be however easily adaptable to dance-floors. A proven potential as addictive as tiresome. Yet, despite all these efforts - or that spoof - not sure Daddy succeeds to be on Gangnam Style’s heels. On this point, Psy deserves credit for being clear. He has reckoned his own chances to "zero" to repeat the global success of his famous single. For now, he reached in one day nearly 14 million views. Not a bad start even less explosive than the "horse dance".
