Artist of the week : Charli XCX
Still in middle school, she became known
in 2008 through her MySpace account and the recording of 2 early singles, a first try however then unconverted. British songwriter Charli XCX, born
Emma Charlotte Aitchison, reemerged in 2011 with two new singles that were rather well
received but she still had to wait another year to finally get critical acclaims with
You're The One, a track already revealing a real achievement and huge creative
character. In April 2013 was released her debut album True Romance carrying influences from Kate Bush, Lil Wayne or the Spice Girls as well as a
powerful originality.
She has confirmed earlier this year the extent of her
talent by performing alongside R&B
chart topper Iggy Azalea in Fancy and through Boom Clap (ranked in the GELT's TOP since April
26), a catchy fun-pop track written for the movie The Fault in Our Stars, reaching
top 10 in many countries. Her new single Break The Rules, has just been released
to give a foretaste of Charli’s upcoming sophomore album Sucker, announced as a pure gem. All we can say is
that this brash young musician has seen in a short time her rating skyrocket and let’s
hope it to be just the beginning.
