Artist of the Week : Iggy Azalea
It’s after hearing iconic
rapper Tupac that 16-year-old Aussie-born deb Amethyst Kelly aka Iggy Azalea
decided to settle down in the U.S. considering it as the only place to make a
hip-hop career. A rather risky bet for a fair-haired girl in a background
usually known for its male chauvinism and strong racially motivated positioning.
But with an obstinate nature, Iggy managed to make a name for herself by
publishing first videos on YouTube (including hot explicit Pu$$y), and despite few trouble with recording labels released her debut album one year ago. Her track Fancy featuring Charli XCX even reached #1 on the
Billboard Hot100 allowing her to join the close club of chart-topping female
rappers. Often compared with Nicki Minaj although especially fan of Missy
Elliott, Iggy Azalea has since got another hit along with pop star Ariana
Grande.
Her new single Trouble performed with Jennifer Hudson should rank her now among the best current artists even if does not suit certain ageing rapper.
