Artist of the Week : The Weeknd

Toronto native Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd first caught attention in 2011 by posting on the web a debut album House of Balloons in which he remixed in a personal way classic pop-rock hits. Eclectic musician although mostly influenced by both hip-hop and R’n’B overtones, he played in his first concert in London, June 2012 during which he performed a strong rendition of famous Michael Jackson's Dirty Diana. He then signed with Universal and released a 3 CDs compilation soon followed by a studio album named Kissland in which performed American rapper Drake. 

Initially rather shared, critics have recognized the restless and crepuscular universe of The Weeknd and the way his highly emotional voice has an ability to set up a forlorn and anxious scenery. After having duetting with Ariana Grande in Love Me Harder, he has just signed the amazing ballad Earned It for the upcoming movie Fifty Shades of Gray's soundtrack that will certainly have a big impact. A pure jewel in any case we don’t get tired to play over and over.
